A trip & some new ideas

Couldn't draw, the last couple of days. My excuses: Had been travelling, this weekend & it was my Mom's Bday, last week, for which I made a card. (awh!)

#1: An idea for a comic, describing a hypothetical app called "Ajja" (aka Grandpa).

This app has an "On/ Off" switch that can used to switch off any "Messaging" service. (Whatsapp, IM, Facebook. basic texts and any other "app" that you can use to chat).

As I'm writing this, I realize that this is, kinda like, the plot for "Watchdogs".

But, Noo..  Honestly, this isn't where I stole the Idea from.  My colleague is addicted to Whatsapp and he doesn't listen to a thing that I say, the first time..  I even drew a comic abt this...

Idea for the single-page comic: 

• A large panel showing the UI of the application in the center.
• Surrounded by panels showing the protagonist, switching off stuff and having a lot of fun.
• In the Last-panel, the guy is now a God !!

#2: Fruit-flies following me everywhere.

As I was travelling, there were these couple of fruit-flies that appeared, wherever I went off to. 
This was kinda a magnet for embarrassing situations. Can you imagine what would happen if I was in a posh-restaurant and dropped my plate, whilst trying to shoo the flies. The Horror !! Maybe a comic can help put things in perspective..

#3: Wolverine on a cool Bike.

Came across this (color) picture of Wonder-woman on a bike, illustrated by the very talented: Dan Mora. I'm planning to draw a sketch of Wolverine on this bike. It would be really cool and fitting. 

This will be going into my daily-art Sketchbook.
BTW, April is nearing completion and I gotta finish 5 Pages, for my 365-day challenge..

#4: The "Geared" Bicycle:
I bought a new bike, last week, after the "death" of my old bike (Costed, like 15k). 
This new bike has 7x3 gears & learning to ride this bike reqd. so many online-tutorials. (I pretty much ride it well now, though ^^)

A funny comic with 2 panels. 
1st panel: It's 1990, the kid learns to ride a cycle, the good ol' way by learning to balance. You can see a lot of bruises on his arms indicating that he has fallen many times.
2nd panel: It's 2015, the guy learns to ride a geared-cycle. The cycle is packed well and placed behind him securely. (lol)
The guy's on a PC and with a bunch of 1000 page open instruction manuals and whiteboards with blueprints, lying around. And, he's trying to figure how to ride the bike.

My Weekday Routine - Comic

Used one of the Ideas that I had scribbled in this blog for a new comic (here).

Had this idea when I was at office, last week. I was really tensed while checking the mail, as always. But things turned out okay, that day.

Honestly, the horrendous & anxious feelings that I have in the 1st panel are indescribable. The rest is purely comic.

Basically, an IT employee's day depends on MS-Outlook.

BTW, the fan in my room has stopped working, in this humidity.

A Long post about A Long game of DoTA

To me: Thrill, action and comebacks are the prime-elements that determine a "good game" [GG].

The anxiety and fear can get blown out of proportions when you are pushing desperately, while the enemy team is hot on pursuit. This is why I love DoTA.

It is pretty hard to find all this, in every game. Some games are boring, long and really one-sided. Not today. There was one particular game today, that had all the good stuff. 

It was a Cloudy Sunday [I love cloudy]. I played as my favorite hero: Shadow Fiend [SF], from the Dire-side, with "Led Zeppelin IV" playing in the background.

The game was going largely in our team's favor early-on and I was insanely lucky.

 For eg: I successfully ganked the bot-lane at the 5-min mark and was going to the rune. I was pretty low on HP.  

Suddenly, a wild Bounty-Hunter [BH] appears and starts hitting me. I see the mid-lane aXe too and he uses Battle-Hunger on me. I was around 100 HP and was convinced that I'm done.

To my surprise, our team (Wind and Lion) actually counter ganked. A perfect shackle and impale on both aXe and BH.

I got off 2 Razes, wiping out BH. The positioning was wicked too. aXe nearly caught up to me when our Lion hexed him. I got off a few auto attacks and a final raze, killing him too. Walked away at 40 HP with a double-kill !!

The mid-game went to be one-sided, in our favor. There was a moment when lion impaled and used finger of death, Solo-killing Riki. We were owning.

And, then it happened. A Gank where all of us went Rambo-mode. Everyone from our Team Died !! I bought back but realized that the Radiant now had a shitload of gold.

As we gradually advanced to Late-game, I realized that Riki had gotten really very powerful. I could escape a few times, using the Euls and Blink combo. But, 3 attacks from Riki were enough to wipe me out. The game had now changed and Radiant could win this.

The desperate split-push to try and come back, began. The tempo of "Stairway to Heaven" was perfectly synchronizing to the situation. The Radiant were defending with all they could. Killing off a few from our team, whenever someone slipped.

Suddenly, I realized that I had a BKB and enough gold for a buyback. There was a Gank at the T3 Radiant tower and I decided to go ALL-IN. 

All Hell Broke Loose. I used my BKB and Requiem. It was shocking to see that enemy Sven still had no BKB. This was the reason why we could comeback. Sven, aXe and BH were wiped off.

Venge and Riki were on really low HP, but killed me. Our Lion used Dust, just before he died too. I immediately bought back, TPed to battle once again and killed them both off.

The action was still not over. Riki and BH bought back. I found a random gem lying on ground. Picked it up, only to find that Riki was about to attack me. He and BH instantly killed me off.  However, the Dire had Mega-Creeps by then. 

It was too late for the Radiant. Their "Ancient" was not defended well enough and we won.

An overdose of DoTA

Pretty much, binged on DoTA today. 

Had a few  awesome moments:
1. As Storm Spirit:

Enemy Radiant Team had: Riki, CK, Tiny, BB & Juggy. But, wiped them out without dying even once. Check out the insane Mana-regen with 6-slotted items. The game was purely satisfying after acquiring a blood-stone. Riki was perma-silenced whenever he got visible.

2. As Earthshaker: 

Went the DPS build - deso, BF, daedalus. 

The awesome moment was when the dire team: CK's illusions, omni, necro, riki, jakiro and a horde of creeps rushed Bot-lane T1 Tower. Instantly blinked-in and had the juiciest ulti. My PC screen-visuals literally shook (due to in-game effects) & ended with a teamwipe.
There was another moment were CK was chain-stunned for, like, 5 secs. Started with a fissure, ministun and lich's ulti. Just friggin' hate CK. This moment felt so good.

3. As Necro:

Was playing from the Dire side, walking towards Radiant T2-mid lane via the cliff-route near the bot rune-spot. Immediately spotted a tiny coming towards me from the high-grounds and pressed Q. 

Tiny used his toss-avalanche combo. But, I instantly started running away, amazingly on 30 HP !! (All thanks to the initial heal). Tiny gave chase but I even got a rune. Bottled up, turned and nuked him down. The awesome moment was when Tiny chased me, desperate for a single Auto-attack !

The Breakdown & Page - 4 art

My Bicycle finally broke down. After an year of adventures, the bike has ultimately Given-up. I'm planning to get a good looking bike this time.

Also, it was a stupid idea to label each sketch as "Daily Art - x". So, I'll go with "Page - x" instead.  Sketched and painted a few random Cartoons on Page-4 today.(here) Pretty easy.

Gotta place an order for the Black-Marker, as it's seeming to be "thinning" down now.

Weather on Weekdays v Weekends

Last weekend, it was pretty sunny. Although I have absolutely no plans on Weekends, I have one wish: It should be cloudy as hell, with plenty of rains and the chilliest winds.

This kinda weather with a bit of rock/trance and some DoTA2 really add up to an exciting stay-in-the-home weekend. But, nooooo...

It's quite the opposite, usually. Sunny as shit on weekends and Cloudy as f@#k during weekdays.Here's a comic describing this situation.

Cross-Hatching

Also, practiced a bit of cross-hatching. On reducing the image-size, it looks pretty cool. xD

I drew these comics in the office while I was waiting for something. This reminds me, I got another illustration idea.

Draw characters showing:

• Impatience/ Anger (Late for something imp.),
• Fear/Nervousness  (If the other guy isn't there, this guy's screwed), 
• Sorrow (Date didn't show-up?) 
• Finally, an old guy waiting for sunset. 

"Never make anyone wait. Be Punctual".

A message to people not to "wait" but to just go ahead and express themselves. & Do not be fcking late for anything. =)

Ideas for comics

Finished the Superman vs Batman Sketch (here)

But, I drew this image on a larger scale. Deviating from my usual face-only/ tiny cartoon approach.This has made the paper all wobbly due to more amount of water used.

Lesson learnt: Only tiny pictures/ comics in the future pages of this book.

Btw, came across some really cool and inspiring comics. This illustrates a local traditional children's-story. (here) This really gives some ideas on how simple folk tales can be sketched out.

Starting to collect ideas for comics/ strips this weekend:
#1: Happiness in a Neutral Life is when Problems are solved. 
#2: Daily mood before and after checking the daily work-mails: A comic in a flow chart approach.
#3: Sunny weather on Weekends and Pleasantly-Cloudy on Weekdays.
#4: Complete the comic of affection between the boy & his pup.

Gotta do this all, by the weekend. 

Also, I'm listening to "Lacuna Coil" again. Especially the song "End of Time". 
For some reason, this song seems to make me feel like it's raining during the day, the weather is extremely cool and the skies are beautifully cloudy. I've absolutely no work/ worries and ultimately, I'm insanely happy.  It's amazing how music can change your thoughts. 

Copying more Lacuna Coil songs to my Cell now. =)

Batman Addiction

I'm still painting the Batman vs Superman (Daily-Art) sketch.. Looks like I'll take another day.

I don't know how it happened. But, I'm kinda addicted to Batman comics now.

Completed reading the entire "Hush" chapter in 2 days. Really an epic storyline and the best part is almost all of Batman's antagonists have a part in this comic. 

Planning to next draw a scene from "Hush".

Batman vs Superman

Have been thinking of drawing Batman fighting Superman for sometime now, after watching "The Dark Knight Returns". 

So, for this Weekend's "Daily-Art", I'm sketching/ painting a couple of Batman vs Superman poses.

In DoTA, played as SF and there was a memorable and chilling moment. When I wandered off as SF in the "dire" jungle and got caught off. 
BS ruptured me, so I instantly started TPing and once I appeared in my base, I was stunned !! This was not a  "projectile" based stun like Venge's missile or WD's cask or Sven's storm-hammer. (that can be easily dodged)

No !! This was DK's Dragon-Tail. I'm pretty sure that a delay by a few milliseconds and I wouldn't have been this lucky. Captured the pic soon after the TP.  

(Ok, Tbh, I captured the pic a little too late as I was eating icecream, added the dragon tail icon later, just to have a fond memory of this awesome achievement, lol)

Suicide Squad

Drew a few random cartoons on Page-1 and completed the Suicide Squad on Page-2, in the new book. The daily-art thingie seems to be going well.

Btw, need to re-draw Harley Quinn in a new page.. Maybe her & Joker on a page...

I must also draw the Rock-band names tomorrow.. Time to fall asleep, for now !

Daily - Art #3 and #4

Got a record high XPM of: 1756 / min as Meepo, today. This is the new score to beat.

Also, on an unrelated note, I must get a box of Altoid Peppermint. Had a few today and the mint as well as the tin-box, in which they are kept, were simply awesome.

Daily - Art #2

Today's sketch was: Dexter..
As a kid, this was one of my fav. cartoons, for a while... 

My fav. episode was the one where Dexter flushes his dead Goldfish and the fish's ghost comes back to haunt him.. Ohhh, I gotta watch this episode now.. It's called "Filet of Soul"..

btw, the 1st page of sketchbook really looks pretty cool, even with just: 2 doodles..

I think after a month or so, the "book" will begin to motivate me to keep going further !!

Daily - Art #1

One easy drawing every weekday is the Goal.

Today's Painting is: Raichu... Copied it and the result looks pretty good... This, coincidentally, is on the first page of my new 60 Page A4 Sized sketchbook .. 

I have a wish to finish this book someday, with 2-4 cute anime/ comic characters on each page, making it look like an awesome sticker book..

So, 60 * 3 (on an avg.) = 180 weekdays. Considering I'm lazier than usual or busy. 
Let's say: ~250 weekdays... 

I gotta finish this book in around: 12 months = a year.  Holy cow, I did not plan this ! 
Another coincidence, this is my own personal: 365DaysofDoodles !

I gotta finish this book on: 07-April-2016... xD

I really feel that this is do-able. It really interests me and is pretty easy. 
But the daily commitment is the only challenge. Time will tell !!

Simple vs Advanced Sketches

Weekdays vs Weekends...

It's too tiring on Weekdays and I never am in the mood to sketch something big.
I dream of doing something big and end up doing nothing at all.

So, I think I will sketch very easy stuff & color using color pencils/ fine-liners.

• Copy Urban-sketch Illustrations (Rob Carey, Paul Heaston) 
• Practice each elements of the final sketch that I plan to do over weekends
• Doodle typographic art (The rock band's names)
• Draw & paint each character from a comic book/ anime.
• Copy illustrations from Mary Doodles/ Mark Crilley/ Cartoon Block.
• Sketch very simple comic-strips.

On Weekends, pretty big stuff like sketching & painting ideas that I note down in this Blog. 


Basically, it's "Copying" on Weekdays and strictly "No Copying" on Weekends.

DeviantArt and NetGear Problem

I really refrain from posting this kind of Techno Garbage.. But, this is a problem that I've faced from time-to-time & has to be noted.

I drink my coffee, play a game of Dota, open Chrome and go to DeviantArt. The site does not load !

This has happened twice now & obviously, only on my PC. DA works fine everywhere else.

The last time, I had to do a lot of trial-and-error and play around with all the Router-settings. I found that this was a problem with the MTU-size. (http://192.168.0.1/ > WAN setup > MTU size) (admin - password)

Set router to MTU 1500 to start with.Open CMD. At the DOS prompt, type in
        ping deviantart.com -f -l 1492

If you get the response "Packet needs to be fragmented but DF set", lower the size the packet in increments of +/-10 (e.g. 1472, 1462, 1440, 1400) until you have a packet size that does not fragment.
Now increase the packet size from this number in small increments until you find the largest size that does not fragment. Add 28 to that number (IP/ICMP headers) to get the optimal MTU setting.
For example, if the largest packet size from ping tests is 1462, add 28 to 1462 to get a total of 1490 which is the optimal MTU setting and can be put in the router's settings

It happened again today. But, the above article explained how to set an optimal MTU-size.
Turns out my optimal MTU size is 1450.

Monday Blues

The Long Weekend has ended and it's routine work again.. Sigh !

Played a game of Dota, in the morning, to get in the mood..

Shadow Fiend got to them pretty good... It was a Blink + Euls combo in the early-game... 
After Riki and Axe were fed, it was time to pull out some good old Rat-dota..

Riki, Axe and Dazzle had no TPs, at the end... Well, that cost them the game...

Might complete the comic of the boy and the pup today..  Practicing a bit of cartoon-sketching, before completing this comic.

Also, watched the "Assault on Arkham" movie last night. This was one of those animated movies that is not meant only for kids. I mean there are pretty nasty and topless moments. Batman is literally the "dark" knight.


The suicide squad is a pretty interesting villainous team. Not like those antagonists that appeared in every other animated show, with a goal of taking over the world. These guys are actually in it cause they're desperate. 

This actually gives me an idea: 
1#: Paint the JLA heroes with costumes in the movie: Throne of Atlantis.


Btw, Played as Axe today in an amazing comeback game.
Axe owned early game. But lost the charm mid game as I decided to go for a Bloodstone build. No mana problems, but no blink/ mobility. Had brown boots too !

Sniper, Jakiro, Kunkka, Omni and Wind really chain stunned the crap out of Axe. Had to suicide every time. Patiently farmed a force staff and BOOM ! The initiations were pretty lucky too.  After blink and force, Axe was pretty much a God.

A "Boring" Sunday ? I think NOT.

Have 2 illustration ideas for today:

#1 A comic showing the love between a boy and his pup. 
Finished the storyboards. Kinda lazy to complete. 
Collecting reference images for the pup, boy and park-sides.

Btw, played a game of Dota 2, in between. 



Sneakiest Sven with a Blink-dagger & the perfect Stuns to steal every kill (lol). I realized why Sven stomps Pubs so hard. Steal a few kills: Get Blink, MoM and BKB. Switch on God's Strength. Blink in and go on a Rampage.

#2 A Poster with the names of few of my current favorite Rock bands, in their original fonts. (Example). Except mine will be doodled using pen and paper.

Posted this so that I can start to list out the bands that I like. Could start with the doodle once I get around 30 bands. Also, this list will help me remember my fav. bands and to refresh my playlist.

Camouflage - Racecar Sketch

One of my friends asked me to draw the "Camouflage" Race car.. (Never heard of it before).

It looked complicated.. But, I had a lot of time, as usual..

So decided to give it a try... The final sketch really turned out kinda ok.. (here)

New Scanner-Printer

Had a Canon (Black & white) - laser printer, until now...

Upgraded to a Color printer with a Scanner (Canon Inkjet Printer PIXMA MG2570) today...

Delivery on a weekend really has its own perks... 
Spent an hour getting to install the printer and cartridges...
It was really exciting.. (lol)

The scanner will really help me scan my paintings and sketches....

Goku - Painting

Watched a lot of DBZ clips today... It was pure Nostalgia indeed... 

The one where Goku does not even worry about Burter's Energy-blasts (as he can dodge them without anyone even noticing)... The other where Goku finally turns Super Saiyan after Freiza kills Picollo and Krillin...

The music, scene & dialogues were really so awesome, that I decided to paint Goku...

Goku - Skin Tones

The skin tones really came out good.. (Used: Scarlet Lake, Lemon Yellow and lots of water). Had to use 3 layers of paint for the normal skin tone and an additional 2 layers for the shaded skin tone portion..

I think painting more of my fav. childhood comic/cartoon characters will build my confidence & be good practice too.

Rock stars' Abstract-Paintings #1

Painted a minimal of Slash today. Had a different end result in my mind, but managed to screw things up, pretty bad.

It was going pretty o.k until the 1st layer of colors were added.

My only excuse is that I'm still pretty new to watercolors. So, maybe with practice, I can paint what I actually wanted it to look like...

Under this category, I'm next planning to paint a headbanging Metal-fan, in the same style... Sketch the outlines, paint random colors and expect it to look good...

Long Weekend

It's a Looooong weeekend..... 
Posting a list of ideas for illustrations, based on actual incidents (lol) & not be clueless during the vacation..

I'm actually thinking of practicing Acoustic-guitar.. I love rock & metal so much, it makes sense to be able to play a few of my favorite songs, to kill time... 

Funny true-story actually.. I had honestly tried it once, for exactly: an hour !
Illus. #1: A comic showing a guy:
1. Holding a guitar & start practicing.
2. Thought bubbles showing dreams of being a Rock star.
3. Curse in agony and later cry, as the fingers start to ache, within an hour.
4. Toss the Guitar in the garage. (Not my cup of tea)

So, I went cycling today & a dog decided to scare the shit out of me.
Illus. #2: The consequences of cycling in the morning:
1. Wanted to be active throughout the day & not be lazy, so decided to go cycling.
2. Was tired pretty soon and was gasping desperately for breath, as usual
3. A dog started barking (literally yelling) out of nowhere.
4. Record Top-cycling speed achieved !!?!

A similar kind of incident occurred when I was driving my Activa. 
Illus. #3:
1. I was trying to cut through the main road to turn and head over to the right-lane. 
2. Was waiting due to the enormous traffic on the main road. There were vehicles zooming in pretty much all possible directions. 
3. There was a cute dog that was stuck in a similar position whilst trying to cross the road. (The dog was patiently waiting and actually on my side, this time)
4. An SUV pulled up by my rear and started honking at me, as if it's my fault.
5. Where do I go? Fly or lift my vehicle allowing the retarded SUV guy to pass or burrow & go under ?  
6. Sometimes I do wish I had superpowers. I wish could fly at light speed and knock that SUV guy out.

Bad day at work

Work was going Ok-ish today, until I heard rumors that I have to work on some dreadful stuff in the near-future...

Here's a lame Illustration Idea (#1), that should depict this situation:

• I'm nervous and pissed off when I get to work, due to the suspense of having to deal with shitty stuff. (Maybe illustrate like a knight going to a war)
